The conference programme for the fourth Social Media in Recruitment Conference on the 19th April 2012 has been confirmed by Mike Taylor from Web Based Recruitment. The Conference has been designed to help Recruiters, Recruitment Agencies, Recruitment Advertising Agencies, Job Boards and Recruitment Industry suppliers get the most from using Social Media in Recruitment.

“Social media continues to play an increasingly important role in recruitment and we are delighted to offer such a varied programme, with each of the speakers having a unique insight into how social media is being used” said Mike Taylor, organiser of the Conference.  “Once again we will be featuring the latest social recruiting trends, case studies and best practice examples. So whether you are recruiting in the private or public sector there is something in the programme for everyone, covering both beginners and experienced users of social media.”

Having launched Europe’s first ever Social Media in Recruitment Conference back in July 2009, Taylor is aware of how much social media has changed traditional recruitment methods. “At our first conference in 2009 the idea of using social media as part of a recruitment strategy was totally new to a lot of delegates. Some three years later the emphasis is now on how to get the most from using social media as opposed to why to use social media in recruitment.”

Conference Subject Areas

The subject areas to be covered at the Conference will include:

  • Social media in recruitment – past, present and future
  • How companies have embraced Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to recruit top talent
  • The best ways to build a talent pipeline for future hires
  • How job seekers use social media when job hunting and what they expect to see from employers
  • How to develop and manage a global social media strategy
  • How to use social media to engage with potential hires and develop talent communities
  • Tools, tips & techniques to help you manage your daily social media activities
  • How social media can make your company stand out from the crowd and become irresistible!
  • Previous delegates social media success stories
  • How to incorporate mobile as part of a recruitment strategy
  • Social Media Question Time

Full details of the programme can be found at: http://www.socialmediainrecruitment.com/programme-2012/

Exhibition Area & Sponsorship

As part of the conference there will also be an exhibition area where delegates will be able to talk to companies and see demonstrations of various social media related products and services. “We introduced the expo area at the recent Mobile and Video in Recruitment Conference in November 2011 and it went down well with delegates. We have therefore decided to make an Expo Area available for the Social Media in Recruitment Conference to help delegates see a live demonstration of a product or service in action” continued Taylor.

“Getting involved as a sponsor or exhibitor at the 2012 Social Media in Recruitment Conference offers forward-thinking companies the opportunity to promote their products and services to a targeted audience and at the same time be seen as supporting one of the major social media events of the year.“

£50 Discount Until 31st January 2012

Any conference tickets purchased by the 31st January 2012 will include a £50 discount. Group ticket discounts are also available.

Now in its fourth year the 2012 Social Media in Recruitment Conference will take place in London on Thursday 19th April 2012: http://www.SocialMediainRecruitment.com .

The 2012 Conference is aimed at helping the following types of organisations get the most from using social media in recruitment:

  • HR & Corporate Recruiting Departments
  • Government & Public Sector Organisations
  • Recruitment Agencies
  • Recruitment Advertising Agencies
  • Job Boards
  • Recruitment Industry Suppliers
  • Recruitment Technology Providers

Since launching in July 2009 the previous three conferences have attracted over 600 delegates from around the world.

2012 Programme

The 2012 programme is currently being finalised but will again contain speakers from some of the UK’s and Europe’s leading organisations as well as further “success stories” from delegates who have attended previous Social Media in Recruitment conferences.

The “success stories” from previous delegates are extremely popular as it gives new delegates the opportunity to learn from people who have gone away and implemented what they have learnt the year before.

Social Media in Recruitment – Where Are They Now?

It’s hard to believe that it was 2 years ago this month (16th July 2009) that I ran the first dedicated Social Media in Recruitment Conference in the UK.

Considering it was such a brand new event (and topic) it was very well supported, even though there were people at the time (and there still are) that thought Social Media was a passing fad and would eventually go away!

Well it seems that the social media fad didn’t go away and the whole area of Social Media continues to grow, with the recent addition of Google + as the latest offering to join the party.

Social Media User Stats

I remember clearly when Josh Smith from Facebook proudly announced on the 16th July 2009 that Facebook had just reached 250 million members (they will probably hit the 1 billion members figure sometime in the next 12 months).

And back in July 2009 LinkedIn had 42 million members worldwide (they now have over 100 million members) and Twitter had around 7 million members compared to the 200 million members they have today!

(By the way, did you know that Twitter users generate 350 million tweets a day and Twitter handles over 1.6 billion search queries per day – (Source: Wikipedia). Not bad for an idea that many said would never take-off!)

Success Stories

One of the most pleasing things for me about putting a programme together for my Conferences (whether it is the Social Media in Recruitment Conference or our sister Conference – Mobile & Video in Recruitment) is that I am able to invite delegates back from previous Conferences to share their success stories as a result of implementing what they learnt the previous year.

To see just how popular the Success Stories from Jonathan Hart-Smith and Elkie Holland were when I introduced the concept last year take a look at the video below:

Where Are They Now?

Following on from the two Social Media Success Stories in 2010 I am pleased to announce that I have spoken with both Elkie and Jonathan and over the coming weeks I will be catching up with them to report on their Social Media progress even further.

I still remember how Jonathan was so inspired by the YouTube presentation that he ordered a video camera straight after leaving the Conference venue and before he caught the train home. Talk about taking swift action! I also remember how Elkie would send her clients a pig on Farmville!

I am really looking forward to those interviews to see how they have progressed.

To make sure you are notified once the interviews are published register to be notified in the top right hand corner of the site.
