At the Social Media in Recruitment Conference on the 19th April 2012 Gareth Jones from BrubakerHR will be speaking about the “Smart Use of Social Media Tools”.

Social media has been around for a number of years now and it seems almost every day there is a new tool to help you manage your social media activities.

However, if you don’t get the basics of social media right in the first place then there is a danger that the tools can hinder rather than help you.

Gareth has eight year’s experience of working in recruitment, covering marketing and technology. At the conference will he will offer advice covering both Recruitment Consultancies as well as Corporate HR & Recruitment departments.

At the Social Media in Recruitment Conference on the 19th April 2012 we are having a speaker session specifically based around how job seekers use social media to look for a job. The speaker will be Vasco Castro, Head of Research & Consulting, at Potentialpark.

Potentialpark have conducted market research about the information-gathering, decision-making and application processes of job seekers over the last 10 year. They conduct an annual survey across more than 30,000 graduates, students, and early career professionals worldwide.

In Vasco’s presentation he will be sharing the latest research in terms of  how job seekers are job hunting and also what they expect to see from employers.  This information is mainly available via a paid service so it is great that Vasco has agreed to share this valuable information to help delegates plan their social recruiting strategies.

In my telephone interview with Vasco I asked him what he would be covering at the conference and also what the number one mistake he sees companies making with social media when recruiting.

In many cases, Vasco feels that the number one mistake is the lack of engagement with job seekers. This mistake is in line with a number of socal media recruiting mistakes seen by our other speakers.
